Sustainable development represents the wish to create better world by balancing the social and economic conditions and environment protection factors. Harmonic relation between ecology and economy is the condition for preserving the natural wealth of our planet for future generations. Speaking about long terms, the sustainable development implies that the wealth, resources and possibilities must be allocated in the manner that all the citizens can enjoy the minimal standards of safety, human rights and other privileges.
Infrastructure and sustainable development sector through its activities studies carefully the situation in the region, creates with special attention the data base of the long term sustainable infrastructural projects and provides continuous support to local self-governments in the process of developing project ideas.
Starting from the fact that the strategic document represents the base of the bottom-up approach, the sector invests the efforts into creating the regional strategy for sustainable development as its starting point for all project ideas. In accordance with the strategy, the data about available funds in this area are collected continuously, the project proposal applications are being prepared and the monitoring of the project implementation progress is being carried out.
The sector functions as specific service to the region in the sense of support being provided to the local self governments with the special attention paid to the activities in relation to the region promotion and marketing.
