Economic picture of Nišava and Toplica region is characterized by concentration of industry in the City of Niš as the biggest center south from Belgrade, then in Pirot and Prokuplje as centers of their own districts. The rest of the territory covered by the districts of Toplica, Nišava and Pirot is mainly oriented towards the culture.

Re-industrialization of bigger cities can be seen through directing themselves towards the additional sectors of automobile industry, heavy machinery industry, metal production industry, textile and tobacco industry. The development of service is mainly concentrated in the IT sector and the transport sector (air, road and railway).

Support to SME sector in the area of developing business systems, supplier network and promotion of producers’ association as the primary possibility for joined entering bigger markets, as well as the assistance in attraction finances out of available development funds are the type of services RDA SOUTH will be providing to this sector.

All RDA SOUTH activities defined through the work of Economy and Human Resources Development sector are followed by the continuous work on raising capacities of the labor force and adapting the labor force to the needs of the contemporary markets. RDA SOUTH in cooperation with other actors from the region coordinated by the market development projection will be involved in the process of education the labor force with the objective of adapting the needs of an individual worker with the needs of the companies operating in the region.
