The economic underdevelopment of the region that RDA SOUTH covers with its activities is still present today. Despite huge migrations from the village area, in some municipalities the number of inhabitants that are agricultural producers is quite high compared to the total number of inhabitants in those municipalities. Since the farmers use more than 90% of the fertile land in this region, different ways of stimulating production in the individual village households are the preconditions of brighter perspective for the agriculture in this part of Serbia.

The region of Nišava, Pirot and Toplica districts has great natural potentials which are not completely used. That is why the rural and agricultural development in this part of Serbia represents the strategic area of activities implemented by Regional Development Association SOUTH.

The food production represents one of the biggest potentials. Organizing the food produces and representing their interests is of special significance if we want to secure the regular production and market placement. It is also one of the basic objectives for the rural and agricultural development sector.

Rural and agricultural development sector represents the service of its kind for all existing and future agricultural producers by providing information, consults, data base creation, project preparation, networking, education, linking with domestic and foreign donors, promotion of potentials, brands and services all these with the aim of achieving the final objective which is complete usage of the agricultural potentials in the districts of Nišava, Pirot and Toplica.
